Ilias Papantoniou

As a percussionist from Greece, Ilias Papantoniou blends contemporary Mediterranean with Latin music.

His experiences as a classical percussionist in Symphonic Orchestras and Philarmonic Bands lead to touring over 10 countries in Europe for 6 Europeans tours. Soon after, Ilias gained international recognition by living, playing and leaning from virtuoso darbuker Misirli Ahmet in Turkey as well as the Cuban latin percussionist Yoel Paez and Victor Mendoza at Berklee College of Music-Valencia. Ilias has recorded and performed with many artists from 32 different countries, and has contributed as an artistic board action member of “Percuaction” Global Percussionist Network representing Greece. He has also given several workshops in many countries (Spain, Greece, Ecuador) about the Contemporary Mediterranean Grooves.
He now resides in Santorini, Greece before moving to the US and regularly composes, performs and records world fusion music using his own unique style to build a bridge between cultures.
